Abert’s Towhee and Broad-Billed

These don’t count for the contest as they were taken last year…I’m still hunting for them this year. Just thought you be interested. I believe this is the Abert’s Towhee because of the brownish feathers on his bottom! Isn’t the Broad-Billed Hummingbird a beauty! I think I’m caught up for this year until I get back at it.

  1. Wow that is a gorgeous hummingbird! I’d never seen a bill like that. Relatively rare north of the Mexico border it appears in our book. Good catch! I love the design of your feeder.

    We saw our first Abert Towhees on that Salton Sea trip a few weeks ago. I was so excited! I have good photos (not with any insects in their beaks though!) but haven’t had time to go through, edit and post yet. – Blair
